January 21, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
This online training will be delivered in partnership with Kevin Hedges, Ph.D., CIH, COH Occupational Hygienist, Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers Inc (OHCOW) Ottawa Clinic .
Improvements to ventilation will be critical especially when people are indoors during colder weather. This online training session will use the OHCOW ventilation checklist as basis for guidance.
The webinar will focus on:
a) Understanding ventilation within the context of the hierarchy of controls.
b) An update on international standards/guidance and good practices used a reference to upgrade ventilation.
c) A process flow to determine where improved ventilation is required and the order for different types of ventilation control including both dilution and filtration of air.
d) How to determine what respiratory protective equipment (RPE) is required, using a risk-based approach, and how ventilation and RPE requirements are integrated following CSA 94.4 with an emphasis on using a control banding approach.
e) An introduction on the OHCOW ventilation calculator, with an overview on how to apply this tool, as a precursor to the hands-on workshop during a follow-up webinar on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 1 pm – 3 pm.
f) The second half of the training session will involve “breakout sessions”, where participants are asked to “share real world examples” in how they have tried to improve the ventilation in their workplace, problems encountered and raise questions that can be addressed during these sessions.
* This workshop is intended for members of workplace health and safety committees, and others who have responsibility for ventilation systems in workplaces. Maximum two people per workplace to attend. Space is limited; please register early. *
