Managing An Effective Hearing Loss Prevention Program (HLPP)

This presentation will introduce the new edition of CSA Z1007, Hearing Loss Prevention Program (HLPP)
management. This Standard specifies requirements for the management of hearing loss prevention
programs (HLPPs) designed to protect workers from occupational hearing loss.
It contains major changes in all aspects of an HLPP to reflect the principles set out in CSA Z45001 for
management commitment, leadership, and worker participation.
It emphasizes the importance of the assignment of roles and responsibilities within the HLPP and
the identification, monitoring and measurement of noise hazards. It provides guidance on the selection
and application of controls, the provision of hearing protection and hazard communication signage,
training, record keeping and management review to support continuous improvement.
