Upcoming International Student Focus Groups

“Are you an International Student in Manitoba? Do you work to support yourself (and your family)?

The Occupational Health Centre would like to hear from you, and learn more about your experiences working in Manitoba, as an International Student on a study permit, and/or work permit – including PGWPs. We would like to talk to you about your experiences at work. It doesn’t matter what kind of job it is, how many you have, or what you’re paid. We want to learn about the problems you face, what you know about your rights, and more.

It’s all to help the us better support International Students working in the province. After 25-plus years of working with newcomers around health and safety and workers compensation, we want to include international students in our activities and develop supports that meet your needs.

You can share your feedback with us via an online or in person focus group session.

• You could also attend an online focus group session, on Friday, February 28th, or an in-person focus group session, on Friday, March 7^th (see attached poster for more information);
  • The focus groups will last between 1.5 and 2 hours. We’ll respect confidentiality in the conversations and let you know our overall results. See the poster for more information or how to ask questions;
  • Participants will be provided refreshments, and a $50 honorarium (financial compensation via e-transfers or gift cards) for their time, participation, and knowledge shared. Childcare and translation supports can be provided on request.
  • March 7th in-person address is ACOMI Cultural Centre – 301 Nassau St N Suite #200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2J5;
