The Occupational Health Centre’s Train the Trainer Program for Food Processing Workers in the Westman Region started at the end of May and will run for five consecutive Saturdays. Fifteen trainers are participating from the following newcomer communities: Filipino, Spanish-speaking, Indian (Hindi), Russian/Ukrainian and Chinese.
After being trained in workplace health & safety issues, Trainers will deliver workshops to their coworkers in their first language.
This is a two year project undertaken in partnership with the United Food & Commercial Workers Training Centre in Brandon and supported by a grant from the Research and Workplace Innovation Program of the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba.
