Are you part of the East Indian, Ethiopian or Nigerian Communities and have lived in Canada for more than one year?
OHC’s Cross-Cultural Community Development Program works with a variety of cultural communities in Manitoba to increase their capacity around workplace health and safety through a Train the Trainer Program.
Community trainers trained by OHC provide workshops and individual assistance in their first languages for workers from over 20 cultural communities in Manitoba.
You can become a community trainer, providing information sessions to your community on Workplace Health and Safety!
The training program begins in September 2023 and consists of 10 sessions of 2.5 hours each, on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Most sessions will be held in-person at 167 Sherbrook Street, and some taking place virtually via Zoom video conferencing
Topics will cover the rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, what workplace hazards are and how to address them, looking at human rights and racism in the workplace, the roles of the Worker’s Compensation Board and Worker Advisor Office, principles of adult education, and more.
When the training is complete, trainers will be prepared to deliver workshops in their first language, within their communities. Community trainers receive an honorarium of $24.00 per hour for coordinating and delivering workshops in their communities.
Please apply to Geetha by email by June 25th.
