Are you part of the Karen, Syrian, Ukrainian, or Yazidi Communities and have lived in Canada for more than one year?
You can become a community trainer, providing information sessions to your community on Workplace Health and Safety.
The training program begins in September 2022 and consists of 12 sessions of 2 hours each, on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Topics will cover rights and responsibilities of workers and employers, what workplace hazards are and how to address them, looking at human rights and racism in the workplace, the roles of the Worker’s Compensation Board and Worker Advisor Office, principles of adult education, and more.
When the training is complete, trainers will be prepared to deliver workshops in their first language, within their communities. Community trainers receive an honorarium of $24.00 per hour for coordinating and delivering workshops in their communities.
